Could we help you win new clients?
We understand the hurdles of winning a new client as a retail broker, particularly with challenging classes and industries. Read our case study on how we were able to secure comprehensive and competitive High-Risk Liability cover for a contractor with multiple claims.
The risk
The client, a contractor specialising in brickwork and scaffolding, had a claims history that included a couple of serious incidents, making it challenging to secure cover without restrictive exclusions.
Introduced to Miles Smith by Andrew Parsons, Client Director, at SRIS, the contractor was an established SRIS client facing heightened risk due to claims-related scrutiny. The client required Liability coverage with no height restrictions or hazardous location exclusions, conditions that typically impact contractors in this sector.
The approach
Given recent successes with other remarketed SRIS clients, Andrew reached out to Miles Smith to explore a competitive and comprehensive solution. Sam Churchman, Senior Broker, worked with our scheme’s lead market to address the contractor’s unique risk profile.
We initially secured a Public Liability limit of £5 million; however, the client requested an uplift to £10 million. Rather than sourcing an Excess Layer of Public Liability, Sam was able to increase the Public Liability limit to £10 million without any increase in premium.
The result
The final solution provided the contractor with the required £10 million Public Liability limit at a competitive premium. This policy was tailored to the client’s £4 million turnover and close to £3 million wage roll, addressing their need for broad coverage while eliminating restricting exclusions.
The tailored programme allows the contractor to operate with confidence, underscoring the importance of specialised insurance solutions for clients with complex needs.
